After 47 years, Sir Roy Strong, CH – art historian, museum curator, writer, landscape designer and former Director of both the National Portrait Gallery and the V&A – is leaving The Laskett, the home and garden he and his wife, Julia Trevelyan Oman, created together. Garden Museum Director Christopher Woodward recently visited Sir Roy at The Laskett to film one last interview there before he leaves.
Filmed during the final stages of packing, in this 25 minute film specially commissioned by the Garden Museum, Sir Roy reflects on the story of the creation of this incredible garden, the way memory is so deeply entwined within the garden and finally handing over ownership for future generations to enjoy
Film length: 25 minutes
