Clay for Dementia

An exhibition of work made by the Clay for Dementia Group, led by Katie Spragg

Coinciding with Katie Spragg’s exhibition, this display celebrates the work made by a group that Katie teaches here at the Museum. Katie has been teaching people living with dementia and their partners and companions since October 2017. The project began as a partnership between the Garden Museum and the charity Arts 4 Dementia.

The group have now met for four terms and have worked with themes including: ‘Souvenirs and place’, ‘Nature’, ‘Food from the garden’ and ‘Spring’. These sculptural works under domes were inspired by Katie’s own work. In the display case are ceramics made by, or in memory of, two participants who have sadly passed away recently.

The next series of workshops start in August and run for six weeks (20th August until 24th September. Please get in touch with Janine, our Head of Learning, if you’re interested in joining.
