Houseplant Festival Talk | From Aloe to Yucca: the Queer Ecology of Houseplants

The talk invites all curious minds interested in seeing houseplants from a new perspective.

Join Queer ecologist Connor Butler to discover the ecological history of our favourite houseplants. Before they sat on our windowsills, plants were doing their own thing. They have evolved over millions of years, developing relationships with insects and unique methods of reproduction and survival.

We seldom take time to consider the intimate relationship between the yucca and the yucca moth, the ferns that can change sex, or the fig wasps that once pollinated that small dried-up tree in the corner of your bedroom.
