The Garden Museum is next door to Lambeth Palace, sitting on the bank of the Thames looking across to Parliament. We are a ten minute walk from Vauxhall, Westminster, Waterloo and Lambeth North stations.
Our historic nave space and garden can be accessed free of charge, and there is no need to book. Entry to the permanent collections, temporary exhibitions and Medieval tower require admission, which can either be booked in advance online or at the front desk on the day of your visit.
If you plan to pay for entry at the Museum, please check our website in case of early closure before your visit.
Upcoming amended opening hours:
On 23 October the museum will open from 11am – 5pm.
On 27 November the museum will close at 4:30pm.
On 1 March 2025 the museum will close at 3pm.
Please check the café page for the cafe’s amended opening hours as they may differ from the museum.

The above prices include access to the tower as part of the ticket, but visitors can also climb the tower without paying the full Museum entry price.
Tower only ticket: £4 (Under 18’s free). Tower only tickets are on a walk-in basis only.

Closing times
The museum closes one hour after the end of the last slot of the day. Sometimes the Museum closes early for special events. Please check the timings of the available booking options if you plan to visit towards the end of the day.
Groups Visits
All groups are welcome to the Garden Museum, though we do ask groups of 10 people or more to pre-book their visit. Our maximum group size is approximately 20 people, larger groups will be asked to stagger their entry.
A visit to the Museum usually lasts approximately 1 hour, visits to the Museum are self-guided.

Our Museum Shop is free for browsing during our opening times. We offer an array of the latest gardening books, high quality gardening objects, eclectic homeware gifts, cards, and educational kids’ games. Please pop in!
Bags and luggage
Please note that all bags larger than a handbag cannot be taken into the Museum, but can be stored free of charge behind our admissions desk.
Tower
We have been able to open up our medieval tower to visitors – those who climb the 131 steps are rewarded with views across the Thames to Westminster. Please note that the tower closes one hour before the Museum’s closing time. In inclement weather the tower may be closed for safety reasons, please call on the day of your visit if you would like confirmation that the tower is open. Find out more.
Accessibility
The Garden Museum is accessible to wheelchair users with level access to the museum through the Garden Cafe.
The permanent collection on the first floor as accessible via our lift. We do recommend that if you need to use the lift, please contact us on 020 7401 8865 or email info@gardenmuseum.org.uk ahead of your visit to confirm it is in working order.
We offer free entry for carers.
We welcome guide, hearing and assistance dogs in all areas of the Museum. No other dogs or pets are allowed in the Museum and café.
Parking
There is no parking at the Garden Museum, but paid parking is available nearby on Lambeth High Street and at the Novotel on Lambeth Road. Parking on Lambeth High Street is free on Sundays. Please note the Museum is within the Congestion Charge Zone.
We have cycle racks available for those cycling to the Museum.
